Specialist Leaders in Education
Specialist Leaders of Education are outstanding practitioners designated by the Teaching School in partnership with the National College for Teaching and Leadership. SLEs are outstanding practitioners equipped to support the system through school to school support and delivery of CPD.
All of our SLEs are from a primary background and are able to support a wide range of specialisms, translating their understanding of what constitutes outstanding practice and enable others to achieve this within their own context.
We are very flexible in our approach to SLE deployments, with our team of SLEs experienced in delivering CPD, providing one on one support, providing support across a team or addressing a whole school priority. Our SLEs have expertise in:
- Teaching and Learning
- Teaching Assistance
- Music and the Arts
- Closing the Gap
- Business Management
SLEs are available for long term deployments to address whole school priorities, to provide short or long term support to subject leaders, to address teaching and learning priorities for teams or individuals and to deliver staff meetings, twilights and inset days.
Please download our SLE Directory to review the expertise of our SLE team.
If you require support, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your needs in more detail.
SLE deployments are charged at the following rates:
- £325 per day
- £165 per half day
We are always looking to recruit outstanding practitioners as SLEs. SLEs are middle and senior leaders with the expertise to support schools. SLEs could be Subject Leaders, SENCOs, Business Managers, Early Years, Senior Leaders and exceptional Teachers. This is a fantastic professional development opportunity, an opportunity to raise income for your school, join a network of over 30 SLEs locally and a network of 4000 nationally and to support and influence the outcomes of children beyond your school. If successful SLEs will receive designation and be offered high quality free training through the National College. Once complete the Teaching School will deploy SLEs to support the needs of schools within and beyond the Teaching School Alliance.
All deployments will be negotiated between the employing school and Teaching School and funding will be reimbursed to schools for release. Currently there is an expectation that SLEs will deployed for 15 days per year. Deployment opportunities will include targeted school to school support, involvement in projects, contribution to CPD events, leadership of networks, delivery of Initial Teacher Training, involvement in regional conferences and the opportunity to engage with and contribute to national policy.
We can also offer an ongoing programme of professional development to SLEs, including the opportunity to gain Masters Levels credits, through our unique relationship with Nottingham Trent University.
We want to support the best primary practitioners to achieve this designation and are therefore happy to offer any support and advice.
